On March 13, a netizen claiming to be an employee of Shaanxi Aokai Cable Co., Ltd. posted a message titled "Do you still dare to take the Xi'an Metro?" reporting that there are serious safety hazards on Xi'an Metro Line 3, and that the cables used on the entire line were produced by "a small workshop that does not meet national standards," with "cutting corners and various production indicators not meeting subway construction standards." On March 15, Shaanxi Aokai Cable Co., Ltd. issued a statement on its official website, calling the post "false rumors" and saying it had reported the case to the police. On March 16, "Xi'an Release" pushed the "Response to Public Opinion on Metro Line 3": "The main leaders of the municipal party committee and government have instructed a strict investigation, formed a joint investigation team to verify, sampled and sent to national authoritative institutions for testing, and the results will be announced as soon as possible." On March 17, the Xi'an Municipal Government held the first press conference to report on the "relevant situation of Metro Line 3." Jing Liugang, director of the Xi'an Quality Supervision Bureau, responded at the meeting: from October 12 to November 17, 2015, law enforcement personnel went to the Metro Line 3 four times to inspect batches of cables, found that some batches were unqualified, and one test report was forged. On March 20, the Xi'an Municipal Government held the second press conference. Experts clarified to the public that "the problematic cables do not affect the safe operation and control of trains," and the metro company promised to "replace all cables in the shortest possible time"; the press conference reported that 8 people from Aokai Company were legally controlled, and the problematic enterprise was included in the "blacklist." On March 21, Wang Zhiwei, the legal representative of Aokai Company, admitted that the company had passed off inferior products as superior ones and supplied unqualified cables, and apologized to the people of Xi'an. On March 23, a reporter from Huashang Daily rushed to the hometown of Aokai Cable boss Wang Zhiwei, Wang Wangshiyou Village, Guxian Town, Hejian City, Hebei Province. Wang Zhiwei's second brother Wang Binglu introduced that it was also on March 17 that they suddenly saw the news on TV and discovered that his younger brother was in trouble! Wang Zhiwei's elderly father said: Everything is fine at home, and he hopes that he (Wang Zhiwei) "should bear what he should bear, and not bear what he should not!" On March 24, a reporter from Huashang Daily came to Yangling and found several former employees of Aokai Company who were from Yangling. They all said that from 2015 to the first half of 2016, the company had repeatedly transported several batches of cables with specifications of 90 square millimeters and 120 square millimeters from outside, and after "re-labeling" them in the factory, sold them again to the outside world.
